What’s a volksmarch, you ask? Volksmarching, which got its name from its origins in
Meet Beth Prevo at the 512 Park & Ride at 9 a.m. Dress for the weather, wear appropriate walking shoes, bring water and snacks or a lunch. Restrooms (probably of the Porta-Potti variety) will be available at the start/finish and check point. Pets are permitted (but not in buildings), if their owners comply with leash and clean-up laws. Easy 5K or 10K Walk #74641 is on sidewalks and gravel and unimproved trails in and around Edmonds Marsh surrounding the city. Pass the original site of Fort Nisqually. The 10K trail is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. The shorter 5k walk offered is suitable for wheelchairs. Moderately Easy 11K Walk #74640 will take you through the newly developed part of the city and surrounding woods, over sidewalks and gravel and unimproved trails. Views of Puget Sound, Mt Rainier, and the Olympic Mountain Range are available. Views of the Nisqually Inlet and valley are available at the look-out. Large wheeled strollers may have difficulty; not suitable for wheelchairs.
